Government

It is easy to research government online services. the best way to do it is to go to www.direct.gov.uk and then clicking on the government section of the site. The first service i looked up was information services, this was really easy to, all the customer has to do is go to the top right hand of the page and click in the search and box and search what they want to know. After you have done this a page with all your results will come up such as the mobility information service. With this perticualar search there were 5000 different results so you are granteted to find what you are looking for.

Online reporting

Like the last search, all the customer has to do is go to the top right hand corner of the page, and type in Online reporting and advice and you get a page of results. however unlike the last search there is only 51 results this time, the results are subjects such as child abuse and benefit fraud. If you click on the subject you are interested in then it will take you onto a more detailed page. for example if you click on the child abuse page it gives you another page explaining all the items on child abuse.

Online Booking

If you search this on direct.gov then you get a list of results such as how to book your driving test to libary membership. If you click on each link as before it will take you to a page that expalins all the details of that search. For example if you click on the theory test link it will take you to a page where you can do practise versions of your theroy test to prepare you for the real thing.

Online payments

If you go back to the top of the page and search online payments then you 500 options to choose from such as student finacial help, to how to beat the credit crunch. these tips could be vital in the near future with the credit crunch and britains 0% economic growth last year.

This is possible because if all the information is on the internet then you don't have to print all the messages off onto paper saving loads of money in paper and other resources.

use a similation

I think this website is really good at serving its purpose it shows the reader images of what to do when disecting a frog. However there are not that many text pieces so it is mainly a picture based which is good but, the site would be better if it had text to accompany the photos the site could be alot better with more text to support the images and give a description of what is happeniong on the page.
recently i have been using the social network facebook and have also been using widows live messenger

education

I think that the modern world website is very good at serving its purpose. i think the timeline is a great idea becasue it lets students travel along the life of technology and learn as they are doing this. Also on this website you can follow the story of the modern personal computor, i think that this oart of the site is really good because it shows the old fashioned computor, such as the ones that use to take a whole room to house to the modern everyday computor that you can fit anywhere in your house or office. It lets the user navigate throught the life on the P.C, and tells the reader any key moments in the computors life such as 'By 1990 the first text Web browser was developed'. The website also allows the user to seeing the programers that made the modern day computor such as 'Marc Andreesen' who was the programer that enabled users to show images as well as text, on a page which was a huge step forwards from the text based computors of the past. At the very end of the timeline you get to see the modern computor against the old room sized computors from the past, the nright at the end you get to see the new apple ipod.

I feel the site is very good for the N user it lets the user navigate through time and shows pictures and text about that era. The site also gives you discriptions and back rounds on the programs that made the first programs that are critical in modern PC's.

I researched two online banks Lloyds TSB and HSBC, and looked at there internet banking options. I think that HSBC offer more options for there customers then Lloyds tsb do. however Lloyds TSB's student account offers alot more then HSBC's student account, such as a free NUS card and free e music downloads. however HSBC offer a £2000 overdraft where as lloyds only offer £1500 overdraft. I think internet banking still has a long way to go before it will be completely safe, for eamaple internet banking is still very unsafe because that is alot of personal information is on there.

Ebays main purposes are to sell and bid for certain items, these items are mainly second hand good that people do not want any more. Also on ebay there are a numer of shops where you can buy certain clothes or sporting goods from. Its target audience is anyone who wants to buy or sell items. Despite a lag of up to several hours between the earthquake and the impact of the tsunami, nearly all of the victims were taken completely by surprise. There were no tsunami warning systems in the Indian Ocean to detect tsunamis or to warn the general populace living around the ocean. Tsunami detection is not easy because while a tsunami is in deep water it has little height and a network of sensors is needed to detect it. Setting up the communications infrastructure to issue timely warnings is an even bigger problem, particularly in a relatively poor part of the world. A tsunami warning system is a system to detect tsunamis and issue warnings to prevent loss of life and property. It consists of two equally important components: a network of sensors to detect tsunamis and a communications infrastructure to issue timely alarms to permit evacuation of coastal areas.

CWarn
CWarn.org is a global tsunami warning and alert system.
CWarn monitors global earthquake activity and alerts its members, via an SMS text message on their mobile phones, should a tsunami threat be forecast for their particular location.
The CWarn system makes use of its member’s latitude and longitude, taken from the member’s address to calculate distance from the earthquake and possible threat levels.
All possibly effected members are sent an SMS message detailing earthquake magnitude, time, date, location and threat level. The system also allows for members to enter their travel itinerary before departure and their holiday whereabouts are remembered and computed accordingly.
